Planning Your Wedding Ceremony
These are suggestions to keep in mind when planning
special music selections for your wedding ceremony.
See
Wedding Song List for more options.
Note that these are only suggestions.
Each wedding is different and unique to each couple.
Song selections vary depending on the style of the wedding,
whether it is a traditional religious wedding ceremony
or a more contemporary ceremony.
Prelude - These are songs while your guests are arriving
prior to the wedding ceremony.  Examples: "All the Way" by
Frank Sinatra, or "The Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette
Midler may be used.  One of the Sacred Classics may used be
if the wedding is a more traditional one.

Pre-Processional - These are special songs to be played while
escorting parents, grandparents or other special honored
guests who are not part of the official wedding party.  There
is also a song here for the lighting of candles.  Examples:
"Unforgettable" by Natalie Cole, "The Rose" by Bette
Midler"When I Fall In Love" by Linda Ronstadt, or one or two
of the Sacred Classics may be used here if the wedding is a
more traditional one.

Processional - The wedding has begun.  This is the entrance
song for groom and the wedding party.  "Pachelbel's Canon" is
a popular selection.

Bride's Entrance - This is the moment everyone's been
waiting for!  It is the song played during the entrance of the
bride as she walks down the aisle with her father.  The
"Wedding March" by Wagner is a popular selection.

Unity Candle - This is the song used for the formal lighting of
the Unity Candle between the bride and groom as they join
their two lives together.   "There Is Love (The Wedding
Song") is a popular choice for this time.

Interlude - This time is for any other music that may be
needed for any other reason.  You may want another song
somewhere in the ceremony.  "The Lord's Prayer" is an
example of a song that may be used during Communion.

Recessional - You are pronounced man and wife, the ceremony
has concluded, and you and your spouse walk joyously down
the aisle past your friends and family.  The "Wedding March"
by Mendelssohn is a popular choice.

Postlude / Interlude - This is for music immediately
following the ceremony while your guests exit.  Often it is a
song to be used while friends and family formally
congratulate the bride and groom in a receiving line.  Example:
"We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters.
